The least house necessary: Shaneen Fantin, People Oriented

The least house necessary - was a presentation that explores examples of the Indigenous and non-Indigenous traditional architecture from tropical regions of northern Australia (from Darwin to Cairns). In particular the presentation examines Yolngu and Cape York ethno-architecture, Burnett houses from Darwin and generic Queenslander houses in Cairns pre-World War Two. It examines each considering the response to climate, spatial flexibility and sustainability. The presentation was given to the TGBN on 3rd August 2011.
